In 2016 we’ve decided we want to visualise all of our projects around the world. But we wanted to do it in an exciting and immersive way.

We asked ourselves: “Wouldn’t it be great if we had our own satellite in orbit that could visualise any data on Earth?”

So we decided to create one.

We created a software framework for exciting data visualisation we named DatSat. It allows us to enter our projects into a simple spreadsheet and they appear at the correct place in an interactive 3D world.

We’ve built an android App which allows us to control the satellite, orbit around the Earth and zoom into any project to reveal more information about it.

DatSat ONE can also visualise other datasets relating to Visible such as Visible’s international partners, proposals and so on.
